Then I married the love of my life and nine years later we were a family of six! My drawing and painting consisted of crayons and tempura paint with four littles born within seven years of each other.
By the time they were in high school and college, years of eating the wrong foods, not drinking enough water, and using toxic household products had caused massive inflammation in my body. My hands hurt all the time. My knuckles were like cherry tomatoes: red, shiny, swollen globs! I stopped painting, drawing, reading books, anything that required me to grip things for more than a few minutes at a time.
My self-worth suffered: as my home became an empty nest, I longed to be able to pour out my feeling into art journals, to work through the emptiness of a big house by painting and drawing.
I began to research solutions for my health in peer-reviewed scientific journals and books by prominent doctors.
