Staying Connected: How to Build Meaningful Friendships Even When Family Lives Far Away
Let’s face it—when your kids and grandkids are scattered, it’s easy to feel like the only company you have is the dust on your shelves and your coffee cup. But don’t worry—building meaningful friendships, even when family is far away, is possible and can be fun!

    1.    Find Your Tribe

You might not be able to attend your grandkid’s soccer game, but you can join a group of like-minded people. Whether it’s a church volunteer team, a painting class, or a book club, connecting with others who share your interests helps build friendships fast—and it’s a bonus when you both love the original Star Trek!

    2.    Embrace Technology

Technology is your friend! Video calls might feel intimidating, but once you get the hang of it, it’s just like talking on the phone—except with fewer excuses to be in pajamas. Virtual dinners or game nights keep you connected with far-away family and give you plenty to laugh about (because tech fails are always funny).

    3.    Create a Social Schedule

Don’t wait for a text; create a routine! Whether it’s a weekly lunch or monthly game night, scheduling hangouts keeps you social and your life lively. Before you know it, you’ll be more familiar with friends than your couch.

    4.    Be the One to Reach Out

Waiting for someone else to text first? Don’t! A simple “Hey, how’s it going?” can turn an acquaintance into a friend faster than you can say “Let’s grab coffee!”

    5.    Make Friends of All Ages

Don’t limit yourself to people your own age. You might be surprised at how much you have in common with younger folks. Plus, hanging out with them can keep you feeling fresh and may even teach you a thing or two (like how to actually use Zoom!)

While family may be far away, there’s no reason you can’t build meaningful friendships. Take action, embrace technology, and get out there—connection is closer than you think!

Meet Peggie B Hensley

From Entrepreneur to Empowerment: My Journey to Health and Purpose”

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I sold my first painting while still in high school, and as a young mom married to a coal miner, I was determined to find creative ways to earn extra income from home. Whether it was sewing, crafting, quilting, or painting, I traded my time for money with one-on-one services to support my family.

In my mid-30s, a health crisis led me to explore natural holistic remedies and lifestyle changes, transforming my life in ways I never imagined.

As my children grew and left home, I transitioned to teaching high school, still trading time for money, but I knew there had to be more to life. With broadband internet replacing slow dial-up, I eagerly dove into health and wellness topics, and spent countless hours researching ways to earn extra income. Along the way, I tried a few strategies that didn’t work, but every failure taught me something important.

Now, in my 70’s, my mission is clear: to share everything I’ve learned to help other Christian women reclaim their health and discover new ways to serve God. I’m passionate about guiding them away from the overwhelm of endless research and analysis paralysis and showing them how to take action and uncover their true purpose.

Whether you’re seeking stability, taking bold action, building meaningful relationships, or looking for knowledge, this community is for you. We’re here to support you in discovering your purpose and transforming your health, no matter where you’re starting from.

Welcome to a journey of empowerment, growth, and faith.
