Somewhere along the way, many of us—Christian women in our 50s, 60s, and beyond—were handed a set of quiet, dangerous lies. They sounded harmless at the time. Some even sounded godly. But over the years, these lies have chipped away at our confidence, our health, and our sense of purpose.
Today, I want to shine a little light on them and remind you of the truth that has the power to restore both body and spirit.
- Lie #1: “Self-care is selfish.”
Many Christian women carry this one like a badge of honor. But exhaustion isn’t holiness. Even Jesus withdrew to rest. Caring for your body isn’t selfish—it’s stewardship.
- Lie #2: “Your best years are behind you.”
This lie steals joy, adventure, and curiosity. Scripture tells a different story. Moses was 80 when his ministry began. Age doesn’t disqualify you; it equips you.
- Lie #3: “You should be over your grief by now.”
Grief has no stopwatch. When we lose someone we love, we lose a piece of ourselves, too. Healing happens in community, not isolation.
- Lie #4: “It’s too late to change.”
Science (and experience!) says otherwise. Your brain can grow new pathways. Your muscles can strengthen. Your habits can shift. You are not stuck.
- Lie #5: “You don’t matter as much anymore.”
The enemy loves this lie. But the truth is: women our age hold wisdom, patience, grit, and compassion the world desperately needs.
- Lie #6: “Just take a pill.”
Treat the symptom, ignore the root. Many women never realize how much nutrition, movement, hydration, sleep, and natural tools can shift their health.
- Lie #7: “Pain is just part of getting older.”
This one has been whispered to women for generations, and it has caused far too many to suffer silently. Pain is not a punishment or a sign that your best days are behind you. It’s simply your body asking for support. And the beautiful truth? God designed your body with the ability to heal.
If you’re ready to feel supported instead of dismissed, reach out. I’m happy to share what I’m doing and what’s been working for me.
Remember , you were created for more than survival. You were made to thrive—body, mind, and spirit. Let’s keep uncovering truth, supporting one another, and walking boldly into the vibrant life God still has for us.
Shine on, Sister. Your story is far from over.
