What is Real Joy and How Can It Be Mine?
The Gift of Joy: What the Bible Says

Joy is more than just a feeling you get when something good happens. The Bible teaches us that true joy comes from God and lasts even when things aren’t perfect. Let’s look at a few Bible verses that show us what joy really means.

In Romans 15:13, the Bible says, “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” This means that God can fill us with joy and peace when we trust in Him. It’s not something we have to make happen on our own—God gives it to us through His Spirit.

In Philippians 4:4, we’re told, “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” Paul is reminding us that we can always find joy in the Lord. Even when things are hard, we can choose to focus on how good God is and feel joy in that.

In Galatians 5:22, the Bible says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.” This tells us that joy is a special gift from the Holy Spirit. As we grow closer to God, joy grows in us too.

Finally, in James 1:2-4, the Bible says, “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” This verse tells us that even when we face tough times, we can still choose joy. Trials help us grow stronger in our faith and develop patience.

Joy is a special gift from God that helps us stay strong, even in tough times. It’s not just about feeling happy—it’s about trusting God and finding peace and hope in Him. No matter what happens, God’s joy will always be there to help us through.
